As social movements make gains in seating progressive elected officials, the question immediately turns to: now what? Change can be slow and difficult within political institutions, while social movements tend towards urgent action. How can we make this inside/outside relationship more productive? What political formations, tools, and methodologies are social movements and elected representatives using to navigate these relationships in a moment of heightening social crises? In this fishbowl style conversation, elected officials from different cities will share their experience and welcome the audience to interact and join in an open conversation that seeks to interrogate our conventional understanding of this divide.
