This interactive session bridges conversations between Black organizers and planners in Toronto and Hamilton working with communities on the margins from the perspectives of labour, gender, and disability. The session will also facilitate a collective discussion on some of the pressing opportunities and challenges that we face in our local organizing today. By the end of the session, participants will create a protocol for how to embed the intersections of economic, racial, and disability justice into their local organizing and planning.

Kumsa: This presentation will take you on a journey through the 10 year campaign of Rexdale Rising and discuss some of the successes and challenges along the way.
Sarah: This session will be for organizers, activists, and policy makers who would like  to know how to organize with a framework of disability justice. It will go over the brief history of disability justice, and help us to unpack the ways in which our grassroots or municipal work can exclude some of the most vulnerable populations.
